Notts camping weekend

September 18th to 20th saw our camping weekend held at Rutland caravan and camping site.
We got there on Friday at about 4pm and quite a few people had already set up home. Before we went to the pub for food more people turned up so it was a very good turn-out, better than I hoped for.

There were about 19 of us eating on the Friday night with plenty of beer and cider being consumed. The food was very good, all homemade pies that went done well and the cost was cheap.

On Saturday a group went on the bus to Oakham while we went to Kirby Hall near Rockingham race track and bumped into John and Marian there. We stopped off in Uppingham  for a coffee coming back from Kirby Hall and watched lots of Harleys (yes Lynne) going past , since there was a Harley bike shop close by. Two more bikes turned up on Saturday, a Commando in a featherbed frame that he built himself and a Ducati. There were nine bikes on the campsite, five of which were Norton’s with ours at the pub.

I did hear once or twice that this should have been called the Norfolk camping weekend as there were more of them than Notts branch members. Sue came up with a new name for the weekend ‘’Nor-Notts’’ camping weekend.

The Saturday night saw us back in the pub with even more people eating and drinking, the pub did run out of two types of beer I heard but the food was just as good. The weather could not have been much better with a short heavy downpour on Friday, while somebody was trying to pitch their tent! Then dry and sunny for the rest of the weekend. Everybody had a good weekend and it was good to see people we have not seen for a while and some new faces.
